Yoriichi Tsukiguni is a legendary character from Demon Slayer who lived long ago, during the Sengoku Era, also known as the “Warring States” period, during which civil conflict was widespread and incessant in Feudal Japan. This breathing technique strengthened the ability of the practitioner and could be used to unleash a variety of different attacks. Among these were a series of arcing and 360° slashing attacks that were empowered by the breathing style making them much more effective directed against demons.

In fact, the abilities of Yorichi’s sword to nearly completely eliminate the regeneration of demons was noted as far more effective than swords of later eras, which could only slow down their regeneration slightly. Whereas other later demon slayers required intense effort and concentration to turn their swords red to attain these same abilities, Yorichi had little trouble with it and seemed to be able to do so at will effortlessly. This sword appeared during the anime when Tanjiro discovered it inside of a six-armed doll he used for training inside the Swordsmith Village. The skill of the original swordsman on which the doll was replicated was such that the doll needed six arms just to approach it.

Combat with the doll pushed Tanjiro to his limits, but he eventually landed a strike that revealed Yorichi’s sword within.
